Enfocus announces Connect 13 with enhanced job delivery control
Kodak presents 5 Diamond Paper Rating Award to Ziegler Papier
E
nfocus has announced the next major upgrade
to its Enfocus Connect product line — Connect
13, available for purchase late February 2015.
Connect 13 will focus on expanding file delivery
controls, and will deliver an all new Connector that
streamlines remote installation, while providing a
single point of access for designers to create and
verify print quality PDFs and automatically deliver
them to their print service provider.
Enfocus Connect is a solution to remove techni-
cal barriers from consistent PDF creation and total
job delivery to remote servers. With Connect, all the
settings are encapsulated in a custom application
called a Connector, which is easy to access and pro-
vides consistency even for novice users. Connect
comes in three versions, Connect YOU for individual
designers and production artists, and Connect ALL/
SEND for print service providers and other graphics
organizations who want to distribute Connectors to
remote users.
Fabian Prudhomme, vice president of Enfocus,
said, ‘Print service providers around the world still
tell us that up to 50 percent of the PDFs they receive
have serious issues involving colour formats, fonts,
bleeds, images and more. This is not a sustainable
business model for either printer or designer, and
it’s why we brought Enfocus Connect to market in
2013. The solution has been well received, a vali-
dation that this approach is needed in the market-
place.’
Connect 13 will focus on workflow and delivery
enhancements for print service providers while de-
livering a new advanced Connector structure that is
easier to install, manage and access for all users.
Key new workflow functions include the ability to
restrict or allow delivery of files based on file type.
With this feature, print service providers can limit
what types of files are delivered to their servers
and communicate any issues before the file leaves
the designer’s workstation. In addition, users will
be able to select what type of Enfocus PitStop
Report is created and delivered with files, and ap-
ply PitStop Action Lists to locally saved PDF files
processed by a Connector in order to apply water-
marks, reduce image resolution, and more.

as simplified entry points to their existing web to

Connect delivers flexibility when it comes to PDF
creation and job delivery. One of the advantages of
Connect is that Connectors can be completely cus-
tomised to meet the needs of an individual user or
product workflow. Not only can the settings for each
major function of Connect be customised, Connec-
tors can be tailored to perform just one function or
several. With more focus on adding workflow fea-
tures such as the ability for an HTTP server to send
custom web page URL or trigger a job file delivery
based on preflight results, Connect 13 will be able
to be more integrated to existing systems providing
user level or product level customised entry points.
This can help reduce end user confusion when sub-
mitting jobs and ensure what’s sent in meets the
production requirements.
The bottom line is that designers can be assured
that their intent is communicated accurately, and
print service providers can streamline.

odak’s Paper Rating Program has presented
the 5 Diamond Award to Ziegler Papier for its
Z-INFINITY Satin Coated Paper. Kodak’s paper
testing shows that this unique satin paper, created
for four-color high-performance inkjet printing, pro-
vides outstanding image quality on Kodak Prosper
Presses. The 5 Diamond rating means that users
will experience color uniformity that rivals offset
quality on coated papers.
Kodak was the first to pioneer and develop a
paper rating program to help printers and publish-
ers make more informed decisions when evaluating
substrates for each of their print jobs. The Paper
Rating Program, based on 30 years of paper devel-
opment and a database of over 7000 paper tests,
relies on the collection and analysis of quantifi-
able data to determine the expected image quality
characteristics of printing papers. Kodak measures
image quality using a wide variety of factors and
then ranks that substrate using a rating system that
ranges from 1 diamond to 5 diamonds.
Within the Paper Rating Program, there are five
metrics for assessing paper surface capabilities
that can quantify and characterize the image qual-
ity expectations for each paper type. The metrics
are as follows:
• Black Optical Density;
• Show Through;
• Line Raggedness;
• Colour-to-Colour Bleed;
• Mottle/Uniformity.
The Kodak legacy in image and material science
is the basis of its expertise in assessing the inkjet
performance of paper. Kodak has active relation-
ships with more than 40 paper mills worldwide and
continuously provides technical advice in the paper
development process. This collaborative approach
to paper development helps print buyers identify
performance attributes between papers.
With Kodak’s Paper Rating Program, print buy-
ers can learn to evaluate paper options to find the
best quality at the best price. This educational ad-
vantage creates competition within the market to
supply better paper.

P has announced new High Definition Nozzle Ar-
chitecture technology for HP Inkjet Web Presses,
providing print service providers breakthrough print
quality, versatility, reliability and productivity.
The new High Definition Nozzle Architecture print-
head doubles the native print resolution of current HP
inkjet printheads from 10 560 to 21 120 nozzles, deliver-
ing 2400 nozzles per inch, and supports dual drop weight
per colour for sharp text, fine lines, accurate skin tones,
smooth grey and colour transitions, and enhanced high-
light and shadow detail. Built-in nozzle redundancy en-
sures reliable and consistent printing.
HPwill also offer a newqualitymode, which prints up
to 122 metres per minute in colour with dual drop weight
for a step function improvement in print quality. Powered
by High Definition Nozzle Architecture technology, the
maximum print speed enabled will be up to 244 metres
per minute.

High Definition Nozzle Architecture technology will
be incorporated into all HP Inkjet Web Press platforms,
including the HP T200, T300 and T400 Inkjet Web Press
families and those sold through resellers. Current custom-
ers can upgrade to the new technology. HP T200, T300
and T400 series InkjetWeb Press customers have printed
more than 90 billion A4 equivalent pages since 2009.
Building on its commitment to customer service and
support, HP also introduced a cloud-based inventory
management system that helps HP Inkjet Web Press cus-
tomers improve uptime and productivity. The HP Smart
Uptime Kit for HP Inkjet Web Presses enables custom-
ers to manage parts, track usage and extract reports to
enhance productivity and access data and parts quickly
and securely.
The HP Smart Uptime Kit is a component of the HP
Service Advantage portfolio announced at Graph Expo,
which includes HP Predictive Press Care and HP Visual
Remote Guidance.
