F
espa Africa, although based on an existing show, was a new exhibition
on the South African show programme and as such could not provide any
guarantees of visitor numbers or level of acceptance. However, Rexel
was prepared to take the risk and according to finishing systems product
manager Kevin Moore it was a gamble which paid off. He commented, ‘We had
many more visitors that we expected and all of them were of a very high calibre.
As an exhibitor you hope that you will be able to sell the equipment which you
have on your stand at the show, but there are no guarantees’
The Rexel stand featured a number of items from its product range including
two manual ream cutters, a modular punch, a single-sided laminator and a roll
laminator designed to meet the needs of different sectors of the market.
The manual ream cutters – the 093030 and the 093020 feature manual spindle
clamp and safety guards on the front table and blade locks in the upper position.
The 093030 is able to handle a cutting length of 470mm and cutting height of
80mm with a narrow cut of 30mm. The 093020 features a cutting length of
430mm and cutting height of 50mm with a narrow cut of 30mm.
The GBC MP2500IX Copy-Pro Twin Modular Punch is a professional and
heavy-duty wire punch and binding machine featuring both 2:1 and 3:1 punch
mechanisms as standard. The 2:1 pitch has 28 adjustable pins and the 3:1 has
40 adjustable pins. It can handle a maximum bind length of 355mm with open
ends allowing it to handle letter, legal and A4 paper sizes. It features an
integrated wire gauge and wire holder.
The FD380 single-sided laminator has a maximum laminating width of 360mm
and can handle a wide range of laminating film thicknesses from 25 – 250
micron. The laminating length is only limited by the length of the roll of film.
It has a maximum production speed of 3 metres per min.
The GBC Catena 105 UK Roll laminator is part of the Catena range of
laminators available in a spread of laminating sizes. It features an operational
width of 1040mm making it ideal to work with a standard 914mm digital plotter
or printer. It comes standard with a mobile stand and can handle film gauges
from 32 – 250 micron. It is suitable for laminating all types of printed material
including digital inkjet prints. The newly-designed control panel allows the
operator to make adjustments as needed to create a quality product. An IR
heat sensing system instantaneously detects heat variations on the roller
surface allowing the heating system to compensate.
Commenting on the systems on the stand at Fespa Africa, Kevin added, ‘We
brought the devices and equipment which we thought would attract the most
attention and we seem to have made the right choices. All of these systems
are easy to use and proved to be very popular on the stand.’
He added, ‘We were surprised by the amazing response we had on the stand,
and not merely from local visitors. We had a lot of interest from visitors
throughout Africa. Not only that, but we also concluded a number of very
encouraging sales on the stand. In fact, one visitor from Botswana placed
an order for an entire container of equipment, some of which was not even
on the stand. This Fespa proved to be a very successful show for us. We
look forward to the next event in 2015.’
