The Impika Compact digital production press installed at Tunleys delivers
two-up duplex printing in a single tower for full-colour variable data in
transpromo, transactional, direct mail and book printing applications. The
addition of this press will give Tunleys the ability to meet all of its clients’
direct mail and transactional printing requirements without the need for
litho printed shells. All the printed elements can be printed in one pass. This
means from white paper to printed documents without intermediate handling.
The Impika comes with a standard print resolution of 600 x 600dpi but can
also be configured with two other resolutions of 360 x 600dpi or 1200 x
600dpi allowing it to handle a wide variety of print requirements. It
delivers full-colour output with 100 percent variable data. Leveraging
the data handling capabilities of Business Genetics alongside the data
integration and processing power of the Impika, Tunleys can now produce
both electronic and printed statements with exactly the same look. This
means that its clients’ customers can decide whether they want to
receive a printed document, an electronic one or both.
Tunleys receives the raw data from its corporate clients and from there is
able to process each and every statement as required, whether for electronic
output or print or both. In addition, it can offer its clients the benefits of
transpromo data. Jeff commented, ‘Transpromo has never been very big in
the South African market, because what was available was boring. Now
the customer’s statement can be personalised in more ways than one. It can
feature multiple account statements for one customer from different sources
– such as bond, cheque account and vehicle finance statements and they can
all have promotional material included which is specific to the customer. Our
clients are starting to see the benefits of this and it is only going to increase.’
