Q
uocirca has named Ricoh the leader of Man-
aged Print Services (MPS) for the third con-
secutive year.
Ricoh saw double-digit business growth in 2013
by helping businesses improve their performance
by digitising information, streamlining workflows
and more quickly delivering information to the right
people at the right time.
‘Our MPS is part of our managed document ser-
vices (MDS) offering portfolio,’ said Sharon Reid,
who heads up MDS at Ricoh SA. ‘We have 30 000
service professionals worldwide who specialise in
fields such as financial services, healthcare and
others to better manage print and electronic infor-
mation. A core focus for us is critical process opti-
misation to help customers control costs, increase
revenues and beef up employee productivity.’
‘In 2013, we once again saw Ricoh continue to
extend its MPS engagements to help its customers
streamline business-critical operations,’ said Louel-
la Fernandes, associate director of print services
and solutions at Quocirca. ‘Quocirca rated Ricoh
Very Strong, the highest ranking of this report, due
to its mature and broad MPS portfolio, centred
around the transformation of business processes.
Our findings show consistently impressive growth
for Ricoh.’
Quocirca, based out of the UK, describes Ricoh
as an organisation with diverse strengths and wide
global presence that has prioritised its efforts and
investments to win in this highly competitive mar-
ketplace. The report goes on to state: ‘with capa-
bilities in enterprise printing, business process
automation and expanding IT services capabilities,
Ricoh now has may strings to its bow.’
Ricoh has made services acquisitions in the last
twelve months including mindSHIFT Technologies,
a provider of managed IT, cloud, data centre and
professional services, and Aventia, a technology
consulting services organisation. It has also made a
strategic investment in Avanti Computer Systems,
which provides print management information sys-
tems.
Ricoh is qualified to help customers execute
a comprehensive strategy for document process
improvement by working with them to understand
how they access, use and store information, and by
adapting and optimising those processes to make
them more efficient and effective. Its adaptive cus-
tomer-focused approach creates a journey of con-
tinuous improvement, and helps customers achieve
measurable and sustainable business outcomes.
‘In today’s new world of work, it is more critical
than ever to create an incredibly efficient informa-
tion infrastructure that allows employees to work
and collaborate like never before,’ said Reid.
Gartner also placed Ricoh in its Leaders quad-
rant in its annual Magic Quadrant for Managed
Print Services Worldwide 2013 report. The research
firm also ranked Ricoh in the top three in its global
2013 Competitive Landscape: Managed Print Ser-
vices, Worldwide for its estimated worldwide direct
MPS revenue. IDC also named Ricoh a Leader in
Worldwide Managed Print Services in the IDC Mar-
ketScape: Worldwide Managed Print and Docu-
ment Services 2013 Hardcopy Vendor Analysis.

APICS is proud to announce that Keabetswe
‘KEA’ Mpane, SAPICS Director, has been nomi-
nated as a finalist in the 2014 Africa’s Most
Influential Women in Business and Government
awards.
Focusing on the achievements of South Afri-
can businesswomen, the awards recognise the
contribution of women in a range of business and
government sectors and some of South Africa’s
best-known and most celebrated women have been
involved in these awards over the years.
The candidates are selected through an anony-
mous nomination process, followed by in-depth
profiling exercise that enables the judging panel
to compile a list of semi-finalists. A further judg-
ing process whittles the list down to finalists that
are asked a set of questions in a filmed face-to-face
interview with the Chairperson of the awards. The
footage of the interview, together with the nomina-
tion forms, enables the judging panel to select a
winner in each category.
The focus of KEA’s duties as SAPICS Director
includes providing guidance on logistics and sup-
ply chain solutions to the industry, mostly focused
on people development and standard setting. The
involvement of supply chain professionals of KEA’s
calibre is one of the key components in guiding
SAPICS to remain the preferred industry partner.
